“This is great news for the people of Taranaki,” he says. “Skyline is New Zealand’s most capable and experienced fixed wing air ambulance service provider and together we will be supporting the Taranaki community, delivering world class services. With the trust and Skyline combing its resources, a New Plymouth-based service will continue” David says.

“That’s one of the reasons why the Taranaki Air Ambulance Trust was set up, to ensure the people of Taranaki would always have an air ambulance based here. That is absolutely vital.”

The new partnership between the Trust, Skyline and the Taranaki District Health Board is enhanced through the introduction of a modern, state-of-the-art King Air C90 aircraft. Skyline Aviation managing director Mike Toogood welcomed the new partnership. “Our team is fully committed to ensure the best in patient outcomes and we are honoured to support the communities in Taranaki with world class aeromedical services,” he said.

“The King Air is the benchmark for the air ambulance craft internationally. Its cruising speed is around 240 knots, and has all the latest medical fit out.” David says one of the best things to come out of the new arrangement is Skyline’s commitment to Taranaki.

“We can now enjoy the fulltime support another specially fitted-out aircraft which meet global standards and they will provide a back-up aircraft, for when this one is in maintenance. It will also be another fully certified, specially fitted out King Air C90.”
